In 2022, Checkers and Rally’s fast food restaurants went on a mission to petition Marlo Anderson, founder of National Day Calendar in the United States, to change the date of National French Fry Day. Their goal was to shift the celebration date so that it would always fall on the second Friday in July.

The Tampa, Florida-headquartered Checkers & Rally’s drive-thru chain launched a petition to generate signatures calling for a real “Fry-Day” celebration going forward. Some 30,000-plus signatures later, the result is Mission Accomplished!

“Rallying America and fry fans across the country to permanently move this beloved food holiday was a monumental moment for us, and it’s our privilege to celebrate the official change beginning this year in a big way,” said Frances Allen, president and chief executive officer of Checkers Drive-In Restaurants, Inc. “Whether fries are paired with a meal or served as a stand-alone order, they’re always a staple and our Famous Seasoned Fries are no exception. We want to reward our customers with not just one, but two special fry promotions.”

The chain will offer a free order of XL fries between “Fry-day,” July 14, through July 16 available to all of its rewards app members. Additionally, from July 24-August 6 at participating locations in the USA and via the Checkers & Rally’s rewards app, one has the choice to buy a small, medium or large order of fries for just $1.

The QSR company, which operates and franchises more than 850 Checkers and Rally’s restaurants, is also offering free servings of large fries along with orders of recently introduced Chedda Chedda Buford Burgers and Chedda Chedda Mother Cruncher Chicken Sandwiches for a limited time.
