Seoul, South Korea-based CJ CheilJedang this month introduced frozen Beef Bulgogi and Tuna-Mayo Gimbap under the Bibigo brand in approximately1,000 Woolworths discount stores in Australia. The rollout joins a range of six varieties of Bibigo dumplings introduced to the market last year. Bulgogi Gimbap is made from cooked rice, beef, vegetables and other ingredients rolled in seaweed, while the secpmd offering features tuna fish and mayonnaise.

In March of 2023, CJ CheilJedang introduced its frozen gimbap in Japan, and has sold more than 1.5 million rolls there over a 12-month period.

Meanwhile, in February of this year, the company’s CJ Foods, business unit began offering its first halal Bibigo Mandu and Hoppang products to Malaysian consumers in Korean Spicy Chicken, Beef Bulgogi and Japchae flavors.

Mandu is Korean-wrapped food stuffed with various ingredients such as meat and vegetables. It is different from Chinese dumplings or Japanese gyoza in that it features thin and crispy flour skin with juicy stuffing.

Hoppang is a popular Korean snack with vegetable or meat stuffing inside steamed bread. The snack is getting global popularity as it is frequently featured in Korean dramas.

CJ Food’s new products cater to the taste of Malaysian consumers by offering chicken with spicy and sweet flavors. Distribution has started at CU convenience stores in Kuala Lumpur and expand listings to mainstream retailers.
