Conagra Brands has announced the closure of another office and the elimination of approximately 100 more jobs, as it consolidates operations following the purchase of Pinnacle Foods in October. The latest shutdown notice went to Boulder Brands employees in Boulder, Colorado. Layoffs of marketing, finance, human resource and other personnel will begin in May and continue through March of 2020.

The company, formerly a unit of Pinnacle Foods, became part of Chicago, Illinois-headquartered Conagra following its purchase of Pinnacle last year in a deal valued at $10.9 billion in cash and stock. Boulder’s frozen brands include EVOL burritos, snacks and entrees, and Gardein plant-based protein items, while Pinnacle’s portfolio of frozen retail products runs the gamut from Birds Eye vegetables, Hungry Man ready meals, Celeste pizza and Lender’s bagels to Mrs. Paul’s and Van de Kamp’s value-added fish.

In December Conagra announced it will shut down Pinnacle’s headquarters in Parsippany, New Jersey, in March, followed by the shuttering of a support office in Cherry Hill in May, resulting in the termination of 196 jobs in the Garden State. An unspecified number of workers at both New Jersey locations and the Colorado office will be offered employment opportunities at Conagra sites in other states.

In a notification issued in compliance with the US federal government Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN), Conagra stated: “As a result of an evaluation of its business needs in conjunction with the post-acquisition integration of Pinnacle Foods Inc., Conagra Brands Inc. has decided to make certain organizational changes,” resulting in the “complete, permanent closure” of the facilities.
