After scoring hits and encore calls in the freezer aisles of Walmart with her sweet potato pie, peach cobbler, apple pecan cake and other desserts, diva Patti LaBelle is about to “Stir it Up” in the kitchen again – this time with the launch of a frozen Chinese food line.
The Grammy award winning singer, actress and entrepreneur – affectionately known as the “Godmother of Soul” by admirers of the soprano’s musical magnificence – is teaming up with restaurateur Stratis Morfogen to produce and promote the new range at supermarkets and grocery stores in the United States.
However, judging by a recent announcement posted on Instagram along with a photo of the duo celebrating at Morfogen’s Brooklyn Chop House in New York, it would seem that the menu Stratis has in mind will also travel beyond East Asian fare to include a number of dishes from the American and EMEA cuisine scene.
Here’s his post: Love when my friend @mspattilabelle @suittnyc @donpoohmusic now our new partners in BCH GROCERS LLC comes to @brooklynchophouse for a surprise celebratory dinner on our new Co! Did someone in the frozen gourmet food section say “French Onion Soup, Pastrami, Bacon Cheeseburger & Lamb Gyro Dumplings?”
Other business partners in the venture are reportedly Patti’s son Zuri Edwards, Alex Thompson and Charles Suitt. While waiting for the TBA launch, folks fond of Patti’s pies probably won’t complain about having dessert before the main meal. – Reported by John Saulnier
