Sint-Katelijne-Waver, Belgium-headquartered Greenyard, which has provided Tesco with frozen produce for over 35 years, reports that the new deal will result in a material increase of volume that will “contribute positively to the revenues of all parties in the supply chain.”

The agreement will result in the placement of approximately 25 premium frozen fruit stock keeping units (SKUs) from Greenyard in freezer cabinets and cases throughout the wide network of Tesco stores in Britain. Greenyard Frozen UK will assist the chain in assuring quality as well as help with technical and account management, and lend logistics support.

Greenyard, which employs more than 9,000 people in 25 countries and rang up sales of approximately €4 million last year, is in the midst of a turnaround program as it copes with pressure on sales and margins attributed to highly competitive retail market conditions throughout Europe, especially in Germany and Belgium.
