Conagra Announces Gelit Sale in Italy; Two Recalls in USA

Chicago, Illinois-headquartered Conagra Brands has entered into a definitive agreement to sell Gelit S.r.l., its Doganella di Ninfa, Italy-based frozen pasta and ready meals production unit that primarily packs private label products for retailers in Europe. The buyer is an Italian investment company owned by Consilum SGR S.p.A., Progressio SGR S.p.A., and MMM S.r.l., whose reference shareholder is Massimo Menna.

Terms of the deal, which entails divestment Conagra’s entire equity interest in Gelit, were not disclosed. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions.

Meanwhile, Conagra’s factory in Russellville, Arkansas, USA, is recalling approximately 2,094,186 pounds of frozen P.F. Chang’s entrees due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen (milk), according to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The P.F. Chang’s Home Menu Family Size Chicken Fried Rice and Chicken Pad Thai retail stock keeping units (SKUs) were produced between October 1, 2018 and April 11, 2019, with “Best By” dates of September 26, 2019 through April 5, 2020. Packaging bears establishment number “EST. P-115,” which appears on the panel above the nutritional statement as “P115” along with the “Best By” date.

The products were shipped to retail stores throughout the United States. The recall does not include menu items served at P.F. Chang’s restaurants.

Consumers who have purchased the SKUs are urged to discard them or return them to the place of purchase. Thus far there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the products.
