It was double happiness for the Global Food Industries (GFI) team during the recent Gulfood show in Dubai, as the Sharjah, UAE-based Albatha Group company was awarded two first place prizes. Its frozen Zing Chicken Nuggets Bites product was saluted as No. 1 in the poultry innovation competition, while frozen Aqua Kale Portions bested all rivals in the fruit and vegetable innovation category.
Both products have been well received in Middle Eastern and Asian retail markets, with the Al Areesh brand Zing line extension offering joining a popular range of fully cooked chicken strips, pops and fillet items made from hand-cut chicken breast meat.
The second winner features aqua kale grown in the Emirates using aquaponic technology. Promoted as a nutritious “superfood supplement with an array of health benefits,” it is free of pesticides, preservatives and additives.
Established in 1992, GFI is the first frozen food manufacturing company in the UAE to be awarded Halal certification from the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA). Its portfolio of products, which includes seafood and red meat items as well as poultry and vegetables, is distributed throughout the GCC and Levant regions in addition to Iraq, the UK, USA, Maldives, Pakistan and other countries.
