Glass Contamination Worries Prompt Recall of Greggs Vegetables Bakes

Greggs Vegetable Bakes in 310g packaging containing two units are being recalled from Iceland stores in the United Kingdom, where they have been exclusively distributed. The reason for the action, reports the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA), is that the frozen product may contain small pieces of green glass.

SKUs subject to the recall have best before (BB) date codes of August 15 and 26, as well as September 11, 12 and 26, 2021.

The FSA has issued the following advice regarding the alert: “All consumers who have bought this product with the above date codes should not consume them. Please return to any Iceland store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.”

The recall does not affect products sold in Greggs bakery chain outlets, or any other Greggs SKUs sold at Iceland, assured a spokesperson from the Newcastle-headquartered company, who added: “The safety of our food is of paramount importance and we take all issues regarding the production of our food extremely seriously.”
