Ho, Ho, Ho! Green Giant Veggie Spirals are debuting in select supermarkets and grocery stores in the United States this month and are expected to achieve coast-to-coast distribution in February, thus becoming the first brand of frozen spiral-style vegetables available nationally. Four gluten-free varieties are offered: Zucchini, Carrots, Beets and Butternut Squash.
Selling for $3.99 per 12-ounce package, Veggie Spirals are being promoted as an alternative to pasta, with just 15 calories per serving. Up until now preparation of such a dish required a fair amount of time a lot of cleanup. No more, as this mess-free product goes from the freezer to dining room table in only six minutes.
“Green Giant Veggie Spirals are the latest progression in our Veggie Swap-Ins line, and perhaps our most-anticipated innovation to date, as social media has been abuzz about this release for weeks. Families are always looking for new ways to simplify their clean eating routines, especially in the New Year, and this product is our answer to their call,” said Jordan Greenberg, vice president and general manager of Green Giant.
The company, a unit of Parsippany, New Jersey-headquartered B&G Foods, has partnered with Hungry-Girl.com, a popular website for consumers looking for ways to lighten up their favorite foods, to promote the 100% vegetable product, which contains with no sauces or seasonings.
