Catering to growing demand for vegan products, Häagen-Dazs has debuted four non-dairy frozen dessert treats in the United States. Flavors currently offered exclusively at Target stores in 14-ounce (414ml) containers are Chocolate Salted Fudge Truffle, Peanut Butter Chocolate Fudge, Mocha Chocolate Cookie and Coconut Carmel.
The brand is licensed from General Mills in the USA market by Nestlé.
“At Häagen-Dazs, we believe there’s no room for compromise,” declares an introductory statement about the new line at the www.haagendazs.us website. “So while most non-dairy options simply start by substituting soy, almond or cashew milk, every flavor in our new collection begins with a core ingredient – like real pieces of Belgian chocolate, actual peanut butter, or real coconut cream. The result? Indulgent non-dairy flavors with a creamier texture and an authentic taste that shines through.”
The non-dairy “ice cream” trend continues to go mainstream in America. Last year Ben & Jerry’s introduced a dairy-free, vegan-certified range in the United States. This spring Breyers, a fellow Unilever brand, introduced two non-dairy options: Vanilla Peanut Butter made with non-GMO sourced almond milk, real vanilla and peanut butter; and Oreo Cookies & Cream featuring a combination of Oreo cookies and vanilla.
