The Messi Burger scores again! The Hard Rock Cafe chain of theme restaurants is celebrating its partner and world-renowned soccer legend Lionel Messi’s first global quadrennial tournament victory as Argentina bested France to win the FIFA World Cup in Qatar on December 18. As part of an ongoing partnership with the Hard Rock International “Live Greatness” campaign, Messi teamed up with the brand this fall to launch a new retail collection and spin on the popular Messi Burger – the Champion’s Edition.
The namesake burger was personally crafted by Messi. The recipe boasts a juicy double stack of seasoned and seared ground beef patties topped with provolone cheese, sliced chorizo, caramelized red onion and the chain’s signature spicy, smoky sauce served on a toasted brioche bun with shredded romaine lettuce and tomato.
Hard Rock is extending the run of the limited-edition Messi Burger through February. In addition, football fans who tuned into the final match at participating Hard Rock Cafe locations received a voucher for a free Messi Burger Champion’s Edition, which can be redeemed during their next visit.
“Our team members around the globe are celebrating this momentous achievement for our partner and friend, Lionel Messi, and enjoying Champion’s Edition Messi Burgers in his honor,” said Jim Allen, chairman of Hard Rock International.
The Messi Burger Champion’s Edition features three dipping sauces: aioli, Latin chili and Messi’s favorite, chimichurri – all promoted as perfect for pairing with the burger and dipping hot french fried potatoes.
