Hillsboro, Oregon-headquartered Henningsen Cold Storage Co. has announced plans to build a 166,000-square-foot facility at Mill Creek Corporate Center in Salem, Oregon. Scheduled to open in the spring of 2017, the refrigerated warehouse will be Henningsen’s second in the capital city.
SEDCOR (the Strategic Economic Development Corporation for Oregon’s Mid-Willamette Valley), the City of Salem, and Oregon’s Department of Administrative Services (DAS) have been working closely with Henningsen for several months on details of the new facility. The company executed a purchase and sale agreement with the Oregon Department of Administrative Services in July and looks forward to beginning site preparation on a 34-acre parcel situated in the central portion of the corporate industrial campus, adjacent to Kuebler Boulevard.
Henningsen anticipates investing $27 million in the coldstore, which will provide infrastructure needed for a food industry that accounts for approximately 50 percent of the region’s manufacturing base. This is the first of an anticipated four-phase development, with future phases expected to generate additional jobs and investment.

Henningsen Cold Storage Co. is one of the largest public refrigerated warehousing companies in the USA, with 10 facilities in six states providing more than 53 million cubic feet of temperature controlled storage space in Washington, Idaho, North Dakota, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania as well as Oregon.
