Gulfood 2016, the biggest annual Halal food sourcing trade platform and the largest food exposition in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), will hold forth at the Dubai World Trade Center February 21-25. Established over two decades ago, the show has evolved into a global event, pulling in buyers and sellers from all corners of the world. Furthermore, it has become a major showcase for value-added frozen products sold in retail stores and for components increasingly relied upon to enhance the menus of restaurants and other foodservice operations.
This year’s running of Gulfood is expected to attract approximately 90,000 visitors and about 5,000 or so exhibitors of food, beverages and equipment from 160 countries. For the first time, a Russian pavilion will be among 120 national pavilions on the fairgrounds.
Last year’s edition of the show drew 84,642 visitors from 156 countries, of which 64% came from nations beyond the UAE. The percentage of international attendees is expected to be just as robust this time around.
On the frozen food front, exhibitors from near and far will make the scene with 530 or more products ranging from fruits, vegetables, potatoes and mushrooms to poultry, red meats, fish and seafood, ready meals, pizza, snacks and appetizers, according to the organizer. In addition, there will be 102 exhibitors in attendance offering ice cream and sorbet products.
