It has been a year of significant growth for Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA-headquartered Interstate Warehousing. Two expansions under construction simultaneously are now are now open and receiving product.
In Franklin, Indiana (situated about 20 miles south of Indianapolis), more than 309,000 square feet of frozen and refrigerated storage space have been added to the building, which has been enlarged four times in its 10 years of existence. The latest expansion also brought more than 46,000 new pallet positions and another 54 dock doors to handle additional truck volume coming into and out of the facility. The warehouse, with at 900,000 square feet of space, is the largest in the Interstate’s network.
The company’s Nashville (Murfreesboro), Tennessee warehouse also underwent a significant expansion, adding more than 155,000 square feet to its footprint. The nine-year-old facility has had two expansions due to customer growth and new business opportunities. More than 23,000 pallet positions have been added to the warehouse, along with 31 additional dock doors. The multi-temperature building now stands at 400,000 square feet, with additional room on site and master planning in place for additional expansion as needed.
