Interstate Warehousing and the Tippmann Group have announced a major expansion project at Interstate Warehousing’s largest cold storage site. The 309,000-square-foot addition will add 48,000 pallet positions to its facility in Franklin, Indiana, USA, which is situated about 20 miles south of Indianapolis.
The expansion will also add 54 new dock doors to the building as well as additional material handling, maintenance, machine room, electrical and office areas. Once the project is complete, the premises will offer customers use of 885,000 square feet of space featuring more than 128,000 pallet positions.
Built in 2005, the Franklin warehouse has had three previous expansions – in 2008, 2010 and 2012. Earlier this year, it received Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Level 2 certification.
Headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the Tippmann Group, a design-build organization, has more than 50 years of experience in the refrigeration industry, specializing in construction and management of cold storage distribution centers.
