Kara, the foodservice baked goods specialist unit of the Cardiff, Wales, UK-headquartered Finsbury Food Group, has relaunched its range of frozen doughnut products. The collection now includes a mini chocolate offering.
The move comes at a time when the appetite for doughnuts among British consumers has remained strong over the past year. The segment accounts for 4.3% of sweet bakery purchases in the United Kingdom, and of this over a quarter of all doughnuts are eaten as a treat.
The existing line includes a sugared ring doughnut, a sugared jam offering, a sugared chocolate doughnut, a mini jam treat, a jumbo jam doughnut, and now a mini chocolate doughnut. Kara says it has upgraded each recipe to improve both softness and flavor.
“We’re always looking for ways in which we can enhance our ranges and with National Doughnut Week celebrated in May, it was a perfect opportunity to relaunch our doughnut range,” said Commercial Director Jane Olney. “We feel that with the additional chocolate flavor, the collection is now complete.”
Each case of the new mini chocolate doughnut line includes paper bags so that they may be presented as a grab-and-go option. This upgrade has been made to give foodservice operators an alternative way of merchandising the product.
