Battle Creek, Michigan, USA-headquartered Kellogg Company is voluntarily recalling approximately 10,000 cases of Kellogg’s Eggo Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat Waffles from 25 states because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Distributed in 12.3-ounce boxes containing 10 units, the packages display UPC code 38000 40370 and a “Best if Used By Date” of November 21 and November 22, 2017. No other frozen Eggo products are impacted by this recall.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and other people with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
Kellogg Company has received no reports of illness to date.
Elsewhere on the recall front in the United States, Northbrook, Illinois-headquartered Censea, Inc. is recalling an undisclosed quantity of 8/12 count headless uncooked shell-on black tiger shrimp because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Imported from Vietnam, the frozen product was distributed to wholesalers, retailers and restaurant operators in nine states; Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Virginia, Kentucky and Texas.
