Leuze-en-Hainaut, Belgium-headquartered Lutosa, a subsidiary of McCain Foods Limited, has commissioned Key Technology to equip a new production line at its flagship factory with VERYX digital sorters to optically inspect processed and finished frozen potato strips. The contract is worth US $9 million.
Scheduled to start up in 2018, the line will significantly increase capacity for making frozen french fries. Utilizing Key’s next-generation technology, Lutosa will be able to boost output while improving efficiencies and profitability by meeting product quality objectives and increasing yields.
“We appreciate the confidence that McCain has placed in all of our equipment, and especially our new VERYX family of sorters,” said Jack Ehren, Key Technology’s president and ceo. “The variety of the systems we’re supplying to Lutosa showcases our complete range of capabilities and our ability to deliver complete, integrated solutions.”
Most of the Key equipment going into the line will be engineered and supplied from the Walla Walla, Washington, USA-headquartered company’s two European operations in Belgium and the Netherlands.
