In optimistic anticipation that coronavirus pandemic lockdown restrictions will be lifted in much of Britain by late June, frozen value-added potato specialist Lamb Weston is teaming up with The Sausage Man and Chef Philli Armirtage-Mattin to encourage foodservice operators to serve innovative, celebratory dishes to enjoy during the upcoming summer months.
Armitage-Mattin, a Master Chef Professionals 2020 competition finalist, is front and center with a recipe featuring The Sausage Man’s Giant Chilli Frankfurters encrusted with Lamb Weston’s Seasoned Crispy Cubes. Inspired by the Korean Kogo street food scene, the ultimate corn dog on a stick is a convenient option for anyone looking for a dish that’s undeniably different from typical menu offerings.
Based in Dartford, England, The Sausage Man’s premium quality range of top quality products are imported exclusively from butchers in Germany. The range includes bratwurst, beef, pork and turkey sausages, paprika sausages, frankfurters and even vegan hot dogs.
Street Food, outdoor eating, delivery and fusion cuisine will all play a big role for operators reopening in 2021, so all the more reason for pubs, restaurants and food truck owners to surprise their guests with tantalizing new recipes. Lamb Weston and The Sausage Man believe they have a way to help it happen.
Think German sausage battered in corn meal and fused with exciting flavors. One typically traditional German dish is currywurst and fries, packed full of spice. So why not indulge in Philli’s katsu curry with crispy Bratwurst and togarashi fries, using Lamb Weston Hot2Home or Stealth fries?
“How can you improve upon sausage and mash or a hot dog with fries? Chef Philli has dreamed up some super creative, highly flavorsome recipes for us such as Korean kogo – sausage and fries on a stick – that is so Instagrammable consumers and operators will love it,” said Andrea Deutschmanek, Lamb Weston’s international marketing lead for Northern Europe. “We gave her the freedom to create these dishes and she stunned us with strong and bold flavors that will wow!”
“Being a chef is about being passionate and creative. It’s about being an artist. We use simple foods and turn them into beautiful creations. And just like Lamb Weston’s products, The Sausage Man’s products are perfect for this,” said Philli.
She added: “When designing dishes today, we have access to a larder of worldwide ingredients. This gives us the ultimate creativity. Along with that, it’s important to make dishes colorful and Instagramable. People want their food be beautiful on the plate. The camera eats first.”
The chef has created some simple sausage-based dishes with Lamb Weston and The Sausage Man, fused with flavors from around the world that keen cooks will be able to build upon to keep their clientele coming back for more.
“My passion is creating delicious dishes that you crave and simplifying them so that the recipes are easy to make for everyone,” said Philli. “I love Asian cuisine, and have really enjoyed experimenting to find the best ways to fuse Asian flavors with these traditional German favorites.”
Speaking of the chef’s talents, Joshua Grocott, marketing director for The Sausage Man, remarked: “She delivered some extraordinary dishes, completely reimagining ‘sausage and chips’ as a concept. Using the quintessentially British chips of Lamb Weston and our authentic German sausages as a starting point, Philli tied in complimentary flavors from around the world to develop tasty plates that please the eye as well as the taste buds. This menu is easy to recreate, and every recipe looks and tastes fantastic!”
