The iconic “Grown In Idaho” logo is prominently displayed in Lamb Weston’s newly launched line of frozen fries, hash browns and puffs. Distributed in 28-ounce (793-gram) bags at retail stores in the United States, the products are made with 100% real Idaho potatoes.

The range features seven value-added frozen potato varieties: Super Crispy Crinkle Cut Fries, Super Crispy Steak Cut Fries, Crispy Potato Puffs, Hand Cut Style Fries, Thick Cut Hash Browns, Crispy Hash Brown Dices and Super Crispy Shoestring Fries.

Matthew CardonLamb Weston’s Matthew Cardon reports that the “Grown In Idaho” rollout will be complemented with a comprehensive national marketing, social media and advertising campaign.“After extensive consumer research, we found people are craving a simple yet balanced everyday meal solution they can feel good about. New Grown In Idaho frozen fries offer an easy and delicious component,” said Cardon. “Consumers will love that our potatoes can go straight from the freezer to the oven while remaining super crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside.”

The “Grown In Idaho” logo and seal has been a mainstay of the Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) in promoting tubers for many years. In addition to its proliferation at supermarkets around the nation, the popular design has even been tattooed on the arms of Spud State natives who are especially proud of their roots.

That trend may have been started a decade or so ago, when then Guam-based US Air Force Sergeant Ben David had his left shoulder inked with a likeness of the seal.

Impressed with the impression, IPC President and CEO Frank Muir remarked at the time: “I was actually touched. Here is a young airman who is so proud of his American heritage, especially his Idaho roots, he has a permanent tattoo to symbolize this drawn on his shoulder.”

One can well imagine that David will salute Lamb Weston’s new product line when it comes to his attention in a supermarket frozen food aisle. He will probably buy a bag or two too.
