Hard Rock Cafe on March 1 began serving the Messi Burger. The launch was the latest innovation in Hard Rock International’s “Live Greatness” campaign in partnership with global football (soccer) legend Lionel (aka Leo) Messi. The namesake burger was personally crafted by Messi, who plays as a forward for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and captains the Argentina national team.
The product features 10 flavorful ingredients for a “game-changing” take on the multinational restaurant operator’s Steak Burger. The recipe boasts a juicy double stack of seasoned and seared ground beef patties topped with provolone cheese, sliced chorizo, caramelized red onion and the chain’s signature spicy, smoky sauce served on a toasted brioche bun with shredded romaine lettuce and tomato. A fried egg can be added to the offering per request, at an extra charge.
“We are excited to welcome Hard Rock and Messi fans to our turf to try the burger inspired by Messi’s very own favorites for a unique and unforgettable experience,” said Jon Lucas, chief operating officer of Davie, Florida, USA-headquartered Hard Rock International, which operates restaurants around the world.
The first Hard Rock Cafe opened in London, England in 1971. From there the brand has expanded to major cities around the world, including New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Milan, Dublin, Tokyo, Bangkok, Johannesburg, Mumbai and many more.
Rock and roll memorabilia has been a mainstay in Hard Rock Cafe decor from the beginning, when one of Eric Clapton’s guitars was displayed on the wall of Hard Rock’s original London premises. Today the chain, owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida since 2006, possesses the world’s largest and most valuable collection of authentic music memorabilia at more than 86,000 pieces.
