Aachen, Germany-based MEX-AL El Sombrero Import-Export GmbH will hold forth at Anuga in Hall 7.1, Stand B101, from October 10-14. For more than 25 years the company has specialized in supplying food, drink and other products to the Mexican foodservice sector in Europe, and at the Cologne show it will shine the spotlight on newly launched Bombitas de Arroz con Poblanos distributed frozen in 3.5 kg. cases containing 140 pieces, and twin-packs of Corn on the Cob in 450-gram bags.
In 2005 the company started making its our own corn tortillas, and since then has been manufacturing and offering an even wider line of authentic frozen Mexican fare ranging from burritos and tacos to quesadillas, tamales, chili con carne, salsas and numerous ethnic finger food items for restaurants, catering operations, wholesalers and supermarket chains. From single mixed pallets to full container loads, products are shipped directly to customers in Germany and delivered to distributors throughout Europe.
MEX-AL has been producing small Quesadilla quadrants for many years. They are made with wheat flour tortillas, filled with cheddar-mozzarella cheese and small chili jalapeno bits. Using either a pan or fryer, the ethnic treats are ready to serve in just a few minutes. Among the offerings are:
Quesadilla de Verdura – half moon shaped, consisting of a dough mix of corn masa and wheat flour, filled with a cheese mix, bell pepper bits, grated carrots, onions and finely chopped cilantro. Each piece weighs 40 grams.
Quesadilla de Maiz con Frijol (corn tortilla with chipotle-retried beans) – a 15 cm corn tortilla with a layer of chipotle-refried beans and grated cheese, folded down to a quarter, about 35 grams per piece.
Quesadilla de Trigo con Frijol (wheat flour tortilla with chipotle-retried beans – a 16 cm wheat flour tortilla with a layer of chipotle-refried beans and grated cheese, folded down to a quarter, about 65 grams per piece.
