In celebrating the 12th anniversary of National Pierogy Day in America on October 8, Mrs. T’s Pierogies, the largest producer of frozen pierogies in the United States, plans to give away up to 120,000 of its popular pasta pockets stuffed with creamy mashed potatoes, cheese and other ingredients. Consumers are invited to visit the MrsTsPierogies.com/National-Pierogy-Day website between 12 AM and 11:59 FM EDT on October 8 to claim a coupon for one free pack per household, while supplies last.

“It’s hard to believe that this year marks the 12th anniversary since National Pierogy Day was declared an official holiday,” said Tom Twardzik, president of the Shenandoah, Pennsylvania-based company. “It’s amazing to see how the celebration has grown, and, this year, we wanted to do something extra special for pierogy lovers as well as those that haven’t ever had the chance to taste our pasta pockets.”

National Pierogy Day recognizes the day in 1952 that founder Ted Twardzik Sr., the son of Mrs. T, made his first pierogy sale to a local grocery store in Shenandoah, a town situated about 108 miles northwest of Philadelphia. Since the retail introduction 68 years ago, Mrs. T’s has become the #1 selling brand of frozen pierogies in the USA.

In the past year, Mrs. T’s produced over 554,000,000 pierogies. That’s enough, if placed end to end, to cross the United States more than eight times, or circle the globe around the equator.

Available in 14 varieties including Classic Cheddar, Loaded Baked Potato, Grilled Buffalo Chicken and other flavors, Mrs. T’s offerings are distributed to retail outlets in both full and mini sizes in 456-gram boxes.
