There were many new vegetarian products to see and sample at the five-day Anuga in Cologne, Germany, which wrapped up on October 14. However, only one producer, Vepura GmbH, won the Anuga Taste 2015 Top Innovation Award for a line of frozen meat-free ready meals.
The judges saluted Vepura’s new range of four Indian cuisine prepared dishes featuring 100% natural, vegan ingredients. The tasty offerings, distributed in 400-gram retail packs, are as follows.
- Chana Masala: chickpeas in spicy tomato and onion sauce cooked in the North Indian style, served with onion basmati rice.
- Dum Aloo Kashmiri: potatoes in rich tomato cashew sauce prepared in authentic Kashmiri style, served with jeera rice.
- Sabji Kofta Curry: vegetable-banana dumplings in mildly flavored Rajasthani-style sauce served with jeera rice.
- Saby Miloni Harizali: selected vegetables in spicy spinach cashew sauce cooked in classic Indian style, served with yellow basmati rice.
The new offerings extend the Cologne, Germany-based company’s portfolio to 10 specialty items ranging from Indian naan breads and samosa to curries with different tastes and spice levels.
“Positive feedback and suggestions in recent months have encouraged us to develop specifically vegan Indian dishes for the German and European market,” said Managing Director Manoj Jain, who founded the company with Andreas Siebert.
The growing line of Vepura products is available at all Galeria-Kaufhof stores as well as other retail outlets in Germany. Online ordering is available through Heine Delikatessen (www.heine-delikatessen.de).
