The St. Petersburg, Florida-headquartered Newport Organization, parent company of Newport International, has purchased Crocker & Winsor Seafoods. The Needham, Massachusetts-based acquisition is a supplier of over 600 frozen seafood items to distributors, wholesalers, manufacturers, retailers and restaurant operators throughout the United States. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 1895 by Cape Cod fishermen Ed Crocker and Bill Winsor, Crocker & Winsor offers a wide range of products under proprietary Winsor Bay and Skipper Sam brand names and other labels. Its extensive line runs the gamut from haddock and halibut to clams, croaker, crab, mackerel, seabass, surimi, flounder, tuna and many other species of fishery products.
Commenting on the acquisition, Newport President Anjan Tharakan stated: “John Parker has done a masterful job in preserving and building a great company over the years. We look forward to carrying the torch and continuing his vision for many years to come. He has put in place a great team.”
Rob Hallion has been promoted from vice president to president of Crocker & Winsor. He is running the company on a day-to-day basis as a subsidiary with the full financial support of Newport Organization.

Founded in 1964, Newport International is one of the largest importers of fresh and frozen pasteurized crabmeat into the USA. Over the past five decades it has served national restaurant chains, supermarkets, distributors and manufacturers.
