Tokyo-headquartered Next Meats Co., known for plant-based NEXT Yakiniku barbecue faux meats, as well as the beef bowl analogue NEXT Gyudon and plant-based egg alternative NEXT EGG 1.0, has added faux pork, tuna and milk to the list of its animal-alternative products.
“In Japan, pork is consumed the most out of all types of meat, and seafood is consumed widely as well. We are thrilled to be able to respond to the myriad of requests received from consumers to develop pork and fish alternative products,” said Ryo Shirai, co-founder of Next Meats Co. and chief executive officer of Next Meats Holdings.
NEXT Pork will be offered as a ready meal, with the pork sliced and sautéed in a slightly sweet but savory soy sauce with ginger – just like Shoga-yaki, a popular dish in Japan. Precise details of the NEXT Tuna and NEXT Milk will be announced at a later date closer to their release, but all products are scheduled to launch in Japan during October.
Next Meats was established in June of 2020. In December the food-tech enterprise announced a partnership with Toyota-Tsusho Corporation, and was listed on the American OTCBB in January of 2021. The company is now active in nine countries.
