Thomas Jacob, chief executive officer of Perth Amboy, New Jersey, USA-based Blue Sea Products has been elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of the McLean, Virginia-headquartered National Fisheries Institute (NFI). The seafood industry veteran’s vertically integrated company operates joint venture processing plants in South India that produce frozen shrimp, calamari and other products.
“This is a great time to have someone with Thomas’s expertise on board,” said NFI President John Connelly. “Couple Blue Sea’s extensive worldwide resource partnerships with his background in international logistics and you have a wealth of knowledge.”
“This is an opportunity to contribute to a vital pre-competitive collaboration that is tackling some of the seafood community’s most pressing issues,” said Jacob. “Whether it’s trade, labeling or sustainability NFI provides an industry voice and a brain trust that I’m proud to be a part of.”
For more than 75 years, NFI has served as a leading trade association for the seafood industry whose members represent all aspects of the value chain from catching and processing to importing, exporting, warehousing, logistics and retailing.
