Bellisio Foods, Inc. is recalling approximately 12,180 pounds of its Thai Kitchen Chicken Pad Thai frozen entrées due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, according to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The ready meal contains soy protein isolate, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.
The product, distributed nationwide to retail stores in 10-ounce packages, was produced by the Jackson, Ohio-based company on April 8 and April 25, 2014. It bears the establishment number “P-18297” inside the USDA mark of inspection, and additional information, as follows: “Sell by Sept. 30 15” date and case code “xxxx09841078,” or “Sell by Oct. 17 15” date and case code “xxxx11541078.”
The problem was discovered by Bellisio Foods when it conducted a label review and found that all the sub-ingredients of the Chicken Pad Thai were not listed on packaging.
No reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the product have been received by either the manufacturer or FSIS. Consumers with questions about the recall should telephone +1 800-967-8424.
