Voodoo Fries has been conjured up as a special menu item featured at Red Robin Gourmet Burger and Brews restaurants in the United States through April 3. The casual dining chain’s limited-time offering of the Cajun-style appetizer consists of steak fries tossed in blackened seasoning topped with queso cheese, bacon and fried jalapenos drizzled with ghost chili sauce.

“Loaded fries are one of the fastest growing food trends in the country,” said Jonathan Muhtar, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Greenwood Village, Colorado-headquartered Red Robin. “Our new Voodoo Fries offer yet another fun and innovative menu item that makes for the perfect follow-up to the limited-time Great Northern Poutine Fries that were introduced last fall.”

The premium seafood offering is a panko-crusted jumbo lump, blue and Pacific snow crab patty topped with arugula, roasted garlic aioli, oven-roasted tomatoes, lettuce, Parmesan cheese and served on a ciabatta bun.

Loaded Baked Potato Burger Winner
Meanwhile, Florida International University students Yolanda Suarez and Michelle Diaz recently beat out more than 300 competitors with their Loaded Baked Potato Burger recipe to win the Fourth Annual Golden Robin contest. The dish features melted cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, sour cream, chives and Red Robin’s signature steak fries stacked high on a juicy, fire-grilled burger served on a potato bun.

The victory netted them $10,000 in scholarship money as well the opportunity to serve their culinary creation during the Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival. In addition, the burger will be featured on behalf of Red Robin at the festival’s Amstel Light Burger Bash on February 26.

“We constantly look for burger inspiration from the country’s most established chefs to its future rising stars,” said Jonathan Muhtar, the company’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer. “We applaud Michelle and Yolanda for combining two American favorites – loaded baked potato skins and burgers – into one unique, Red Robin-worthy burger.”
