Saffron Road, the Stamford, Connecticut-based producer of premium restaurant-quality frozen meals and snacks, has announced a new distribution partnership with Target, the eighth largest retailer and third biggest mass merchandiser in the United States with almost 1,900 stores from coast to coast. Revenue generated by the Minneapolis, Minnesota-headquartered company approached $76 billion last year, and food and beverage sales soared 20% in the first quarter of 2020.
Eating habits in North America were suddenly disrupted this year by the novel coronavirus pandemic, causing most people to take nearly every meals at home. As a result, there’s been a shift in consumer habits as individuals and families look for the kind of quality food they’ve come to expect when dining out.
Priding itself as an epicurean brand devoted to culinary excellence, ethnic authenticity and socially responsible values, Saffron Road goes the extra mile to ensure every meal delivers full flavor quality and nutrition.
“We’ve seen an unprecedented seminal shift in at-home meal occasions occurring among Americans during this crisis. The ‘new normal’ will motivate consumers to increasingly look for healthier, higher quality, natural and non-GMO meal options like ours, versus the highly processed belly fillers that normally spike during periods of crises,” said Adnan Durrani, Saffron Road’s founder and chief executive officer.
He continued: “Especially given the severity and national footprint of this recent crisis, our mission to provide mainstream America easy access to premium quality meals couldn’t be more relevant. We are committed to giving Target customers an exceptional value with our clean-label and finely crafted meals.”
As such, the following six menu selections are now available at 430 Target locations across the USA: Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Pad Thai, Lamb Saag, Lemongrass Basil Chicken, Chicken Biryani and Chicken Enchiladas Poblano.
Given the economic hardship many communities and families may currently be facing, Saffron Road began offering a special cash-back incentive for Target shoppers using the mobile rebate app Ibotta.
In addition to Target, the company’s frozen ready meals product line is listed in more than 25,000 stores nationwide, including Whole Foods Market, Walmart, Kroger and Costco outlets.
