Schwan’s Consumer Brands has announced the re-launch of Pagoda Asian-style Egg Rolls, available in 8-count packs weighing 22 ounces. Now featuring meat as the first ingredient, the Marshall, Minnesota-based company says this means it is the only major frozen Asian-style snacks and appetizers brand able to make such a claim in the US retail sector.
“We’re excited to bring these egg rolls back to retailer shelves in a bigger way,” said Andrea Furber, director of desserts and Asian-style snacks and appetizers at Schwan’s Consumer Brands. “Not only are there more egg rolls in every box, but we’ve doubled down on making them meatier and more satisfying than other egg rolls on the market.”
Other ingredients in Pagoda Egg Rolls are chopped cabbage, carrots, celery and onion. The brand’s entire portfolio of products is devoid of artificial food dyes, contains zero artificial flavors, no partially hydrogenated oils, zilch high fructose corn syrup, no MSG and is preservative free. Additionally, Pagoda chicken egg rolls are made with 100% white meat.Based on past performance, Pagoda Egg Rolls have proven to drive category growth for retailers by attracting 25% more consumers to freezer cases, according to IRI statistics. Even better, these consumers typically make 12% more trips to the store and spend approximately 20% more per trip.
“The Pagoda brand’s portfolio of offerings has a long history of strong, double-digit growth,” said Furber. “It had the highest rate of repeat purchases in the Asian-style snacks category and has been shown to be highly incremental. It’s in the best interest of our retailer partners to shelve it in a prominent location.”
In addition to Egg Rolls, other items in the Pagoda portfolio include Potstickers, Crab Rangoons and Cream Cheese Wontons.
