Seacore Seafood Inc. announced on March 9 that it has been named as a winner of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for 2015, making it one of only dozen companies in Ontario to be victorious for five consecutive years.
“Best Managed companies are strong in strategy, capability, commitment and financial performance. They are all great Canadian business success stories,” said Mike Runia, Ontario managing partner of Deloitte and co-leader of Canada’s Best Managed Companies program.
Last year Seacore earned the Gold Standard in the program for excellence in business performance. The Vaughan-based importer, distributor and processor of frozen and fresh seafood products is now just two years away from achieving Platinum status, which is awarded to companies that have won seven years in a row.
In business since 1987, Seacore Seafood packs OceanPrime, Housecut Certified and Wyse Bay consumer brands at a 75,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility north of Toronto. Its extensive range runs the gamut from shrimp and salmon to scallops, squid, barramundi, crab, lobster, clams, mussels, conch, cuttlefish and other species of fish. The product line was recently expanded with value-added items including OceanPrime Market Salmon Pinwheels, Creamy Chardonnay Scallops and Shucker Paddy Approved Oysters.
“Our entire team is very proud and humbled to have won this prestigious award for five straight years. Hard work and dedication has continued to be recognized,” said Joe Nestico, the company’s president and co-founder.
