Sealaska Corporation has announced that it is in the process of buying a majority interest in Odyssey, a Seattle, Washington-based producer and marketer of value-added frozen seafood under several retail brands. Terms of the deal have been broadly agreed to, and the transaction is expected to formally close within the next few weeks.

Founded in 1981, Odyssey packs a wide variety of retail and foodservice seafood products under the Treasures from the Sea and Chef’s Treasures brands. It also supplies additional foodservice products and provides custom and private label processing at its Seattle processing plant, which operates as Northwest Seafood Processors.

Sealaska, headquartered in Juneau, is an Alaska Native institution owned by more than 22,000 shareholders from the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian population. Their traditional homelands are the coastline and forests of Southeast Alaska, extending from Yakutat to the Queen Charlotte Islands of British Columbia. The land mass encompasses 22 million acres, of which approximately 675,000 are under Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian ownership.
