United States Cold Storage (USCS) has officially opened its second public refrigerated warehouse in Sacramento, California. Located in McClellan Business Park (at a site within decommissioned McClellan Air Force Base), the 6.8 million-cubic-foot facility is a multi-temperature (-20F to +45F) operation offering more than 31,000 pallet positions, 20 dock doors, and a rail siding served by both the Union Pacific and BNSF railroads.
USCS McClellan is conveniently positioned on the north end of Sacramento, directly off the Interstate 80 corridor and only a few miles from the Interstate 5 interchange. Furthermore, it’s not far from sister USCS warehouses in Tracy and Turlock, California.
The Sacramento coldstore is fully racked with 65-foot refrigerated docks and multiple storage rooms, each with flexible storage temperature controls. In addition to traditional storage and distribution services, the site offers multi-vendor consolidation, cross-docking, a dedicated quality assurance lab, a temperature-controlled handling room, a Cascade CO2 refrigeration
system, 100% LED lighting, high definition surveillance system, and fire suppression technology.
Steve Palefsky, a 16-year company veteran recently promoted to general manager of the USCS McClellan facility, commented: “Our nearby sites will be used to help customers better manage freight during periods of seasonal high storage demands. These close by locations also will provide better multi-vendor consolidation opportunities for our customers. This will result in efficient, cost effective shipping solutions.”
