Released just in time for National Shark Week (July 23 to 30 ) in the United States, the limited-edition Shark Bait ICEE flavor is “swimming” to tables as the base of a dessert now on the menu at Golden Corral, the Raleigh, North Carolina-headquartered grill-buffet restaurant chain. Available through September 3, the ICEE Fanta Blue Raspberry flavor has been renamed “Shark Bait” and can be topped with creamy vanilla soft serve ice cream and gummy sharks, and then finished with a drizzle of strawberry sauce.
We are “excited to partner with Golden Corral to launch this ‘fin-tastic’ dessert, and love it when restaurants get creative with innovative and fun ways to serve ICEE to their customers in new formats. For those looking to feel like a kid again during Shark Week, this sweet, tasty treat is the perfect dessert to sink your teeth into,” said Natalie Peterson, the company’s vice president of marketing.
ICEE, a subsidiary of Mount Laurel, New Jersey-based J&J Snack Foods Corp., has been a household name in the USA since 1967, establishing its own category in the food and beverage market and becoming the nation’s number one frozen beverage brand. Shark Bait ICEE is one of six new flavor releases under the “I See” Animals product line that launched earlier this year.
About Golden Corral
Now ranked at the USA’s largest buffet restaurant chain, Golden Corral began as a single family steakhouse in Fayetteville, North Carolina in 1973. The business grew steadily as a chain operation during the next decade, starting with expansions in Virginia and Texas before opening units further afield.
In a move to enhance its core customers’ dining experience while attracting new customers, in the mid-1980s its profile changed with the introduction of an 11,000+ square foot “Buffet & Grill” design. Today there are more than 400 company-owned and franchised all-you-can-eat Golden Corral restaurants in business throughout 43 states and Puerto Rico.
