The Original Cakerie, a manufacturer of high-quality desserts based in Delta, British Columbia, Canada, has introduced a gluten-free range of Inspired by Happiness™ brand products. Distributed in individually wrapped form are Heavenly Chocolate Brownie and Honeylicious Ancient Grain Chewy Nut & Seed Bar, featuring natural flavors and colors and containing no artificial trans-fat.
Products packed for grocery stores and other retail outlets include Dreamin’ of Strawberries White Chocolate, Dreamin’ of Chocolate Dark, and Dark and White Chocolate Layer Cake. These family-size three-layer cakes, currently available only in the US market, are stocked by Target, Hannaford, Ralphs, Fred Meyer, QFC and Food4Less. Additional products planned for introduction in the near future include two-layer cakes for foodservice operators.
“Our founding principle is based on sourcing premium ingredients to create irresistible products with a homemade taste,” said Doris Bitz, vice president of retail sales and marketing for The Original Cakerie. “With gluten-free needs increasing and the challenges of creating these items from scratch, we saw a real opportunity to help meet that demand.”
All of The Original Cakerie’s desserts are shipped frozen, primarily in a versatile, cost-effective rectangular format. This allows products to be cut into squares, rectangles, wedges or any number of other options to fit desired plating needs.
