Alfons M.T. Thijssen, 54, has been named manager of Frisch & Frost, Hollabrunn, Austria, and intends to engage the specialties and dough producer to a greater extent in foodservice and retail operations. The firm markets its products under the brand names Toni Kaiser and Bauernland.

In a strategic split, the Frisch & Frost potato segment has been dissolved and is to carry on as a firm in its own right, Lamb Weston/Meijer Austria, headed by Edward Trum with support from Production Manager Thomas Proge.

Thijssen, who has had more than 25 years of experience in the grocery business, knows the European market well. He has held numerous international positions with Unilever, and was most recently country manager for Pago in Austria. As part of the restructuring, Thomas Bargetzi, who had been interim manager, has left the company.
