French pâtissier Tipiak has launched a new selection of bite-sized canapés in the British foodservice market. The “thaw and serve” Mediterranean Canapés Selection features nine flavors, including: mango apricot chutney; mini cheese and ham rolls and sesame seeds on mini brioche; smoked salmon; tzatziki, cucumber and poppy seeds on mini blini; goat’s cheese and fig on walnut bread; and tuna, stewed piquillos, capers and black olives on sandwich bread.
Tipiak’s popular canapés product line in France is typically served at buffets, conferences, weddings, afternoon teas, graduation parties and other events. This new assortment complements its existing range already available in the United Kingdom via frozen food distributor Central Foods.
“The Tipiak Mediterranean Canapés Selection brings delicate and flavorsome bite-sized canapés to the table – canapés which are incredibly convenient for food professionals,” said Marie-Emmanuelle Chessé, international development project manager at the Saint-Aignan-Grandlieu, France-headquartered company, which supplies a wide variety of sweet and savory pâtisserie in frozen form to the hospitality sector in Britain.
“Having been available in the UK since 2009, our canapés have an outstanding reputation among chefs for their stunning, hand-finished presentation and superb flavors,” said Chessé. “Our new Mediterranean Canapés deliver the same great taste and quality in a convenient, one-bite format. They are our most popular canapés product in France.”
The product is presented on gold-colored cardboard trays, which are 100% recyclable and biodegradable. The packaging is regarded as “paper-carton,” meaning it is made of paper and not lined with plastic or aluminum, as are many conventional packs.
Mediterranean Canapés Selection boxes contain 63 pieces – seven of each of the nine different flavors. For maximum convenience, foodservice operators are advised to remove frozen canapés from the box and arrange them on a platter, stand or serving tray. Leave for four hours in the refrigerator to defrost, plus 30 minutes at room temperature before serving.
