How sweet it is! Two more products have joined the Sara Lee Desserts range in the USA: Blueberry Pound Cake and Gingerbread Pound Cake. Both are now available in the freezer sections of supermarkets and other retail grocery outlets throughout the country.
“Sara Lee Pound Cake has been a beloved product in kitchens for more than 60 years and is America’s favorite frozen pound cake [in both dollar sales and unit volume, according to IRI Multi-Unit sales data for the 52-week period ending on September 14, 2014],” said Jeff Kemerley, senior brand manager of Chicago-headquartered Sara Lee Desserts. “To expand upon our pound cake’s rich heritage, we’re bringing the popular flavors of blueberry and gingerbread to consumers for more ways to indulge with this sweet treat.”
The Blueberry Pound Cake, promoted as “rich, tender and made with real blueberries,” is available year round, while the seasonal Gingerbread Pound Cake is being sold only through December 2014.
“Consumers enjoy our buttery pound cake for breakfast, afternoon snacks and when creating unique dessert dishes,” said Kemerley. “Sara Lee Blueberry Pound Cake is bursting with blueberry flavor that tastes great any way it’s served and any time of day. The limited edition Gingerbread Pound Cake, our twist on the classic holiday flavor, is expected to be a big hit this fall season.”
