Central Foods has launched a tomato, goat’s cheese and basil tart in the British foodservice sector. At the same time, the frozen food distributor’s Mediterranean vegetable tart features a new and improved recipe to further enhance its flavor profile.

Both Menuserve tarts, which serve up well as a light lunch or snack, are four inches in diameter and weigh approximately 160 grams each. They simply need baking to crisp the pastry and heat through before serving.

“Being suitable for vegans, the colorful Mediterranean vegetable tart is a great addition to any menu, as it will appeal to those customers and diners with dietary requirements, as well as more generally. The tomato, goat’s cheese and basil offering is a super vegetarian alternative which again will go down well with all customers,” said Gordon Lauder, managing director of Collingtree, England-based Central Foods.

The Menuserve tomato, goat’s cheese and basil tart features a cheese and basil quiche-style filling with sun-dried tomatoes in a herb-flecked pastry case, topped with a slice of tangy goat’s cheese.

The reformulated Mediterranean vegetable tart includes a chunky tomato, aubergine, courgette and mixed peppers filling on a bed of tangy tomato sauce, topped with a half cherry tomato, all in a herb-flecked pastry case. It’s suitable for vegans and vegetarians, as well as consumers without specific dietary concerns.
