Farmwise, the Wellesley, Massachusetts-based company that introduced frozen vegetable- and potato-based Veggie Fries to the United States retail market two years ago, has announced the debut of Broccoli & Sweet Potato Veggie. Made with broccoli, white beans and sweet potatoes, the new product provides a good source of protein and fiber, as well as vitamins A, C and K. It is also low in sodium.
“When Veggie Fries launched in 2014, it revolutionized the $50 billion dollar frozen french fry category by offering consumers a healthier alternative to the beloved fry, without sacrificing taste and delivering a crispy, crunchy texture,” said Dave Peters, co-founder and chief executive officer. “And now with Veggie Tots, we are delivering on these same principals but in a form that has long since been a family favorite.”
Cristina Peters, Dave’s wife and fellow co-founder, added, “As parents of three daughters, we’re focused on creating healthy products that we’re proud to serve to our own family. Veggie Tots are a parent’s dream – crispy, fluffy and delicious, with an exceptional nutritional profile. We’re excited to share them with other families around the country.”
Distributed in 369-gram bags, Broccoli & Sweet Potato Veggie Tots are scheduled to start shipping this fall. They will join the current Veggie Fries varieties – Carrot, Broccoli, Chickpea & Red Pepper, and Kale & Tuscan Herb – in supermarket frozen food aisles across the nation.
Both the Veggie Tots line extension and Veggie Fries offerings, which are all gluten-free and non-GMO verified, may be served as a side dish, appetizer or snack.
