Vancouver, BC, Canada-headquartered VersaCold Logistics Services has appointed Michael Spence to the position of chief financial officer and named Joe Sammon as vice president of engineering.
Spence, who will report directly to Douglas Harrison, the company’s president and ceo, has overall responsibility for financial and accounting functions. He will also be in charge of technology strategy and platforms.
Spence, who was previously president and cfo of Canadian General Tower, holds both Chartered Accountant (CA) and Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designations and is currently enrolled in the Executive MBA program at Queen’s University.
Sammon heads up all physical engineering activities within VersaCold’s 33 refrigerated warehousing facilities across the nation. In addition, he runs the company’s green energy initiatives.
Prior to joining VersaCold, Sammon was responsible for BlackBerry’s 41 facilities in Canada. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from Wilfred Laurier University.
Ranked as Canada’s largest provider of temperature sensitive logistics services, VersaCold’s operations run the gamut from 3PL, 4PL and asset-based transportation, including LTL, TL, Dedicated Carriage and Intermodal LTL.
