The 20th edition of the India International Seafood Show (IISS) will take place September 23-25 at the Visakhapatnam Port Trust Diamond Jubilee Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Organized by the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) and the Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI), it is the largest seafood fair on the subcontinent.

The biennial event offers a platform of opportunities for exporters and importers of Indian marine products, processors, resource specialists and personnel of capture and culture fisheries, processing machinery manufacturers and allied sectors, to meet under one roof and conduct business. With an increasing emphasis on aquaculture, the theme of IISS 2016 is “Safe and Sustainable Indian Aquaculture.”

India’s first seafood show was held at Mumbai in 1973. The last three editions, held at Chennai in 2010, 2012 and 2014, enhanced the international stature of IISS, making it a major event which is looked forward to by those engaged in global seafood trade.

Indian seafood exports, valued at US $ 4.7 billion last year, are expected to generate US $ 10 billion in annual sales by 2020.

As Indian aquaculture has gained a strong foothold in the world market in the recent years, the emphasis for IISS has shifted to aquaculture. It is thus appropriate that the show will take place in Andhra Pradesh, the aquaculture capital state of India. Visakhapatnam, the bustling port city of Andhra and an important commercial hub, is situated on the Bay of Bengal in the northeast region of the state.

Registration information and more details about the show are available by visiting www.indianseafoodexpo.com, or ringing MPEDA at +91 484 2321722.
